2015: Albums of the year: Part 3!!

There were a lot of albums this year so I decided to do this post in 3 parts, so these are the albums I loved in the last quarter of the year. Enjoy x

The Documentary 2 - The Game
The Game always finds a way to make a good album, though I didn't like 'Jesus Piece'. Ten years after the first Documentary, the sequel had 38songs (split into 2) with incredible feature like 'Nas''Lil Wayne''Busta' and  many more. Game told us about Compton, it is tribute to old school hiphop and also reminds us of how good the first was. I personally think he is one of the best lyricists today and'Life' is probably my favourite!

I changed a lot - Dj Khaled
As the King of anthems and King of snapchat, I didn't expect anything different from this album. It was a typical Khaled album with a lot of features and as usual his screams.. The album already had about 5 singles released including 'They Don't Love You No More''How Many Times', 'Hold You Down', and my two favourites 'Gold Slugs' and 'You Mine'. It is a good album but it not my favourite from him.

Revival - Selena Gomez
From Disney to performing at the VSFS (yes I was impressed). This album exhibits Selena's personality, songs ranged from flirty to past stories. With singles like 'Good For You' and my favourite 'Same Old Love', she proved on this album that she's all grown up and not a Disney kid!

General Admission - MGK
A friend introduced me to 'Lace Up' and I instantly fell in love with his music. This album tells a story about his success, failure life and death. Though it was meant to be a typical mainstream album, MGK found a way to make it typical street like rap album (not too mainstream). The album shows you he's an upcoming artist with good lyricism best yet a survivor of the struggles of life!

Purpose - Justin Beiber
In 2014, most headlines on JB were not music related and mainly negative but this album has him redeem himself! The album exhibits maturity and for someone like me who isn't a Belieber but been a fan since the 'Baby' days, the album has sincerity through all songs and also love, heartbreak and apology. He has features from Travis Scott, Big Sean and more.. Yes he has had his low moments but we all mistakes and I'm sure I'm not the only who likes the redeemed and mature Justin!!

Free TC - Ty Dolla $ign
This album talks about Ty's family, relationships and a tribute to LA. As usual he has hooks that are catchy, stories about sex and the album has good features. I'm still not sure if Ty is a rapper or singer but this album sounds R&B. 'Miracle/Whenever' talks about his brother in jail whose name is part of the title and even has the brother talking on the phone. I hated the single 'Blase' but the album overall is good!

MMM - Puff Daddy
Old school Puffy is back with a banger, showing all this young ones how it's done. Last time we had anything like this from Puff was probably 'The Saga Continues'. Still one of the best producers in the game and a successful businessman, it seems like Diddy hasn't forgotten how to make a good album with good features. It talks about Harlem and his success; since the release of 'Finna get Loose' I was looking forward to this and I have to say I wasn't disappointed!

Late Nights: The Album - Jeremih
Jeremih has been featured on soo many songs which made me wonder if this will ever be released. Afte'Birthday SexI never thought he will have any good songs. As expected it was a typical Jeremih album i.e. Mainly about women and sex so there's really not much to say about it.. Overall the album had good features and good songs.

When It's Dark Out - G-Eazy
First time I found out about G-Eazy was when he released 'Tumblr Girls' and honestly I didn't bother giving him a chance, Lool. A few people convinced my that he was good so I tried to give him a listen, and to my surprise I actually love this album (maybe I should have given him a chance earlier).

Incase you never read the first and second!

2015 was a good year for music, can't wait to see what 2016 has to offer!

2015: Albums of the Year: Part 2!!

Here are albums I have been loving in the second half of the year.  Enjoy x

Pop + R&B

Emotionally Unavailable - Justine Skye
I know this is an Ep but I have to say it could pass for an album. My favourite songs are 'I'm Yours ft Vic Mensa' and 'On & On' are my favourite. I can't wait to hear more songs from Justine.

Unbreakable Smile -Tori Kelly
I found out about Tori during the BET awards and fell in love with her voice, so I just had to listen to her work. To be honest, she has one of the best voices out there and this album is amazing. I can't seem to pick a favourite song but 'Unbreakable Smile' is my most played.

Shadows & Diamonds - Elijah Blake
I always knew Elijah was an amazing songwriter but I never really paid attention to his own work until this album and I have to say I should have given him a chance earlier on but better late than never. 'I just wanna ft Dej Loaf' is the main reason I decided to get on this album. His song writing skills did show in the whole body of work of the album.

Black Rose - Tyrese
Tyrese is one of the greatest R&B musician ever and like expected this album is incredible. I love 'Shame', 'Body Language' and 'Without My Heart' are my favourite songs. This is his last album and that saddens me but I will hope for singles and enjoy the old albums.

Right Here Right Now - Jordin Sparks
I became a fan of Jordin since American idol and I personally think she has one of the best voices in the world. After her second album 'Battlefield' she took a break for six years (still wondering why) but I have to say this album was worth the wait. I don't have a favourite song on the album but I have been playing 'Work From home ft B.o.B', 'Right Here Right Now' and 'Unhappy ft Elijah Blake' continuously.

Beauty Behind The Madness - The Weeknd

Like expected Abel delivered his genius on this album. I have been a fan since the beginning i.e. all his mixtape and I have to say he has always delivered. I can't pick a favourite song on this because they are all good... The fact that there was a song with Ed Sheeran made me excited for the album. I think this album tells more stories about Abel's life and I can't wait for more music from him!!

WILD- Troye Sivan
When Troye released his first EP Trxye I fell more in love with him, he was no longer just a youtube I watched weekly he was now a musician with good lyricism and voice. So when WILD came out I have to say I was a bit excited and my expectations were met. I can't wait for a full album hopefully coming soon!!

Four Pink Walls - Alessia Cara
Found out about he when she had an interview on 'Ebro in the Morning', so I had to look for her. Love the mixtape, 'Here' is possibly my favourite song. Can't wait for more music from her!!

I Am - Leona Lewis
To me Leona has one of the greatest voices out there and it saddens me that she isn't as big as she deserves. I have been a fan since X factor and well the days of her first album 'Spirit', I was excited for this album and I do like it a lot.. 'Thunder' is my favourite song!!

Hip-hop

MZRT - Ryan Leslie
I have been told by people to listen to Ryan Leslie but I always said no, when this album came out I thought maybe it's time I gave him a chance and I'm glad I did. I didn't expect anything of it so I was quite impressed. I love a lot of the songs but 'Designer Pain' and 'The Wood' are my favourites!!

Elephant Eyes - Omen
If you know anything about my taste in music, you will know I love everything 'Dreamville' and I have been waiting for this album for so long. Even without my love for the record label, Omen is one of the best lyricists out there too bad he's underrated. As excepted this album has lyricism, 'Foolish Pride' and 'Things Change ft J Cole' are my favourites!!

Rodeo - Travis Scott
Travis being one of the most creative and talented people in the game I had expectations for this album because his mixtape 'Days Before Rodeo' was amazing but I was slightly disappointed. I do love this album a lot, 'Antidote' being my favourite song but I still prefer the mixtape. I know it will grow on me because I remember hating the mixtape.

Back to The Woods - Angel Haze
Angel Haze is my favourite female rapper, I found out about her through a friend who recommended I should listen to 'Werking Girls' and after listening to that once I just became a fan instantly. I loved her first album, and I love this one. Her lyricism is perfection and so is her delivery. I hope someday to get to see her live because I imagine the energy will be fantastic!!

What A Time To Be Alive - Drake & Future
I'm not a big fan of Future but I do love his verses on this album. As for Drake he will always find a way to make songs better. '30 For 30 Freestyle' is my favourite track. It had a mini tribute to Michael Jordan in 'Jumpman', a lot of talk about their successes and riches and of course a little continuation of his beef with 'Meek Mill'. The album did not have the expected lyricism for me, it still is a pretty dope album.

Fashion must haves!

When building a wardrobe you need a few key items especially for days we feel "I have nothing to wear". These are some items I personally think every girl should have in her wardrobe!

Plain T-shirt - This will solve your issue of "what should I wear?" especially when you are in a rush. The best part of it being plain is that it goes with everything!

Dressy T-shirts - Somedays when you decide to look classy, you will need a tee with some type of design or print to achieve the right look.

LBD - On days where you want to go out to a party or a dressy event, a little black dress with statement accessories will do the trick.

Black pants - Great comfort and they go with any outfit.

Faux Leather/Leather Jacket - This simply makes an outfit look better whether a dressy or a simple plain outfit.

White Shirt & Silky Shirt - Shirts could serve both for formal wear or just a chic look.

Dressy Jacket - Makes a simple outfit look fabulous.

Dress down Sneakers - Sneakers are the most comfortable shoes ever and can go with almost every outfit, so why not invest in a pair of converses or something equally simple.

Pumps - Essential for night outs or just days you feel like being dressy.

Skinny jeans - Rather than sweats, jeans give your outfit a chic look just make sure you find a comfortable pair.

Crewneck Sweater - Worn with a shirt underneath or alone, it give a simple to formal look depending on the occasion. Also it is cozy!

Cross-body bag - Rather than carrying a big bag all the time, a nice cross-body bag comes in handy.

Menswear inspired watch - Personally I don't wear watches with a small face, menswear inspired watches add more statement and with it worn you may not need a bracelet!

Ankle Boots- Fits perfect with a casual look.

Comfortable flats - Perfect shoes for summer to class or just going out and about during the day. Could be ballet flats, slippers, loafers, oxfords or whatever else you prefer.

Vibrant Scarf -Adds a color and distracts from simplicity of outfit especially for someone who wears a lot of black like me!

Coat - depending on the weather, coats could add an effortless classy look to your outfit; especially a trench.

Statement Blazer - Could be worn to class or a presentation or even on a night out with friends.

Flannel - Makes outfit look effortlessly chic and comfortable when worn  unbuttoned with a tee underneath or tied around the waist!

Denim Shirt & Jacket - This is one item that never goes out of style and can be worn with anything to give it an edgy-isn look.

Opaque Black Leggings - A perfect substitute for days when you don't feel like wearing a pair of jeans.

Sweatpants - Probably the most comfortable item you could own. It could be paired with a nice plain top and a jacket to go out or it could just serve as a cozy outfit for lazy days and netflix days.

Statement Jewellery - When wearing plain outfits in particular it is necessary to have an accessory that will distract from the simplicity of the outfit.

#7: Quotes of the month!!

"Confidence isn't walking into a room with your nose in the air, and thinking you are better than everyone else, it's walking into a room and not having to compare yourself to anyone else in the first place."

"Loyalty isn't grey. It's black and white. You're either loyal completely,or not loyal at all. And people have to understand this. You can't be loyal only when it serves you."

"I'd rather regret the things I've done then regret the things I haven't done."
Lucille Bell

The best things happen unexpectedly."

Who are you?

It's a common theme for people to wonder "who they really are?" & "How do they find  themselves?" I think the real question is "Do we ever find our complete self or do we just figure it out bit by bit and go with the flow?" I honestly can't say I have found the complete me but here are a few ways you could try to figure out who you are which are helping me:

  • Figure out what you want to do, your goals, I mean. You could write them down and put them up on your wall and chase those dreams and never give up on them.
  • Move on from the past, it's now a memory and hopefully a lesson which will guide you positively in future.
  • Learn to ignore people's opinions, like I always tell myself it's your life do what you want, live the life you dream of, your happiness matters more than anything.
  • Learn to rely on yourself rather than on others to avoid being let down.
  • Know your self-worth.
  • Give yourself as many chances as you need, no one is above mistakes.
  • Know the people around you and figure out who's worth your time.
  • Organise your life.
  • Find your passion and make it a reality. Whatever your passion is, no matter what people think of it doesn't matter.
  • Love yourself enough, if you do you wouldn't need the acknowledgment of another person.
  • Be as realistic and optimistic as you can be.
  • Remember that not everything is going the run smoothly, you might have bumps along the way and thats normal.
  • Be Patient
  • Do you!!
"When you look in the mirror and see who you want to be or like who you have become, then you have found yourself; all that's left now is the better you!!"
